How to Perform Toe Turns on a Snowboard
Step 1: Preparation
- Stand with your back facing the slope and your feet shoulder-width apart.
- Ensure your weight is evenly distributed on both feet.
- Bend your knees slightly for stability.
Step 2: Toe Edge
- Angle your toes slightly inward to create an edge on the toe side of your snowboard.
- Apply pressure on the toes of your front foot and maintain a flat back foot.
- The weight should be distributed mainly on the front foot.
Step 3: Turn Initiation
- Gently lean into the toe edge and simultaneously shift your weight forward onto the front foot.
- As you lean, the board will begin to curve towards the toe side.
Step 4: Rotation
- Continue leaning and rotating your body in the direction of the turn.
- Maintain a balanced stance and keep your eyes focused on where you want to go.
Step 5: Finishing the Turn
- As you complete the turn, gradually release pressure on the toe edge and straighten your body.
- Shift your weight to the back foot to prepare for the next turn.
Tips:
- Practice on a gentle slope to build confidence.
- Start with small turns and gradually increase the radius.
- Use your arms for balance and steering.
- Keep your head up and look where you want to go.
- Be patient and persistent with practice.
