How Good Was Tonya Harding at Figure Skating?

Tonya Harding's figure skating career was marked by both highs and lows. She rose to prominence in the late 1980s, winning the U.S. National Championships in 1991 and 1994. She also won a bronze medal at the 1991 World Championships and placed fourth at the 1992 Winter Olympics.

However, Harding's career was also marred by controversy. In 1994, she was involved in a scandal in which her ex-husband, Jeff Gillooly, and her bodyguard, Shawn Eckardt, attacked her rival, Nancy Kerrigan. The scandal led to Harding being banned from the Olympics and from competitive skating for three years.

After her suspension, Harding attempted to return to skating but never regained her previous success. She retired from the sport in 1999.
