How is it that nobody snapped a picture of the Titanic sinking?

With all the modern technology we have today, it's hard to imagine a time when there were no cameras. But back in 1912, when the Titanic sank, there were very few cameras in existence, and even fewer people who knew how to use them.

In addition, the Titanic was sinking very quickly. The ship hit an iceberg at 11:40 PM on April 14, 1912, and by 2:20 AM on April 15, it had completely disappeared below the waves. That's less than three hours from the time of impact to the time of sinking.

So, while it's certainly possible that someone could have snapped a picture of the Titanic sinking, it's also very unlikely. The combination of the lack of cameras, the lack of people who knew how to use them, and the speed at which the ship sank all make it extremely unlikely that anyone captured the moment on film.
