What are the Different Swimming Strokes and Their Techniques?

Swimming is an excellent cardiovascular exercise that improves flexibility, strength, and endurance. There are four main swimming strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.

Freestyle is the most common and fastest swimming stroke. It involves alternating arm strokes with a flutter kick. To perform freestyle, keep your body streamlined, extend your arms forward and pull them back through the water, and kick your legs up and down.

Backstroke is similar to freestyle, but it is performed on the back. Keep your head out of the water and extend your arms back and over your head.

Breaststroke is a slower but more powerful stroke. It involves bringing your arms together in front of your chest and then pushing them out to the sides. Your legs should be bent and then kicked out behind you.

Butterfly is the most challenging swimming stroke. It involves both arms being lifted out of the water simultaneously, followed by a powerful downward stroke. Your legs should also be whipped up and down.
