Has anyone found Muhammad Ali's Olympic medal in the Ohio River?
In 1960, Muhammad Ali (then known as Cassius Clay) won a gold medal in the light heavyweight boxing event at the Rome Olympics. After his victory, Ali celebrated by driving through his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, with his medal hanging around his neck. However, while crossing the Ohio River on the Sherman Minton Bridge, Ali's car stalled and he was forced to abandon it. In the confusion, Ali's medal was lost.
Despite numerous searches, Ali's gold medal has never been found. In 2014, a group of divers claimed to have found the medal in the Ohio River, but their claim was later disputed. To this day, the whereabouts of Ali's Olympic medal remain a mystery.
