Was the Titanic ever called Olympic?

The Titanic and Olympic were two ships that were nearly identical, and there has been some speculation over the years that the Titanic was originally supposed to be called the Olympic. While it is true that the two ships were very similar, there is no evidence to support the claim that the Titanic was ever actually called the Olympic.

The Titanic was built by the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was launched on May 31, 1911, and completed on March 31, 1912. The Olympic was built at the same shipyard and launched on October 20, 1910. It was completed on April 27, 1911.

The two ships were almost identical in size and appearance. They were both 882 feet long and had a gross tonnage of 46,328 tons. They both had triple-expansion steam engines and could reach a speed of 23 knots.

The Titanic was intended to be the largest and most luxurious passenger ship ever built. It had a capacity of over 2,200 passengers and crew. The Olympic was also a luxury liner, but it was not as large or as luxurious as the Titanic. It had a capacity of about 1,900 passengers and crew.

The Titanic sank on its maiden voyage from Southampton, England, to New York City on April 15, 1912. It struck an iceberg at 11:40 p.m. and sank two hours and forty minutes later. Over 1,500 people died in the sinking. The Olympic continued to sail until 1935, when it was retired and scrapped.
