How do runners get invited to the marathon Olympic trials?

The marathon Olympic trials are a qualifying event for the Olympic Games. To be invited to the trials, runners must meet certain criteria.

For the 2020 Olympic trials, the qualifying standards were as follows:

  • Men: 2:19:00
  • Women: 2:45:00
