Where Did Titanic Lifeboats Go?

After the tragic sinking of the Titanic in 1912, the fate of its 20 lifeboats became a subject of intense speculation. Of the 20 lifeboats, only 15 were successfully launched, with a total capacity of 1,178 people.

The remaining five lifeboats were either damaged or lost during the sinking process. One lifeboat (Collapsible D) was washed overboard before it could be launched, while another (Collapsible B) was crushed by a falling funnel. Three other lifeboats (Collapsibles A, C, and E) were never found.

The 15 surviving lifeboats were dispersed after the sinking. Five were picked up by the Cunard liner Carpathia, which arrived on the scene approximately two hours after the Titanic went down. These lifeboats contained approximately 705 survivors.

The remaining 10 lifeboats were picked up by other ships in the area, including the SS Californian, the SS Mount Temple, and the SS Birma. These lifeboats contained approximately 473 survivors.

The lifeboats played a crucial role in saving lives during the Titanic disaster, but the fate of the remaining five boats remains a mystery.
