Which country has mobile phone throwing as an official sport?
Finland is the only country in the world where mobile phone throwing is recognized as an official sport. The Mobile Phone Throwing World Championships have been held annually in Savonlinna, Finland, since 2000. Competitors from all over the world come to compete in three different events: the Original, the Freestyle, and the Team competition. In the Original event, competitors throw a standard Nokia 3310 mobile phone as far as they can. In the Freestyle event, competitors can use any type of mobile phone and throw it with their own unique style. In the Team competition, teams of three people compete to throw a mobile phone as far as they can combined.
Finland is also the birthplace of the phenomenon known as "Eukonkanto" or "Wife Carrying", where male contestants race while carrying their female partners through a 253.5-meter obstacle course. The prize for winning this competition is the wife's weight in beer.
