What are the Main Scoring Systems and Rules of Squash
Squash is a fast-paced, indoor racket sport played between two or four players using a small, hollow ball and rackets. The game is played on a court enclosed by four walls with a sloping ceiling at the front. The object of the game is to hit the ball against the front wall so that it bounces back into the court and the opponent(s) are unable to return it.
Scoring Systems
There are two main scoring systems in squash:
- Standard Scoring: The first player to reach 11 points with a lead of at least two points wins the game.
- PAR Scoring: Players alternate serving every five points. The player who serves first must win by two points to retain their serve. If they fail, the serve passes to the opponent. The first player to win 9 or 10 points wins the game.
Rules
Here are some of the basic rules of squash:
- Players must hit the ball in front of the line and below the ceiling.
- The ball must bounce twice on the front wall.
- Players cannot touch the ball more than once with their racket.
- Players cannot hit the ball into the opponent's body.
- Players cannot obstruct their opponent's path to the ball.
