What is the Story of Manny Pacquiao?
Manny Pacquiao is a Filipino professional boxer and politician who has held multiple world titles in eight different weight divisions. He is the first eight-division world champion, and the first fighter to win major world titles in four of the eight "glamour divisions": flyweight, featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight.
Pacquiao was born in Kibawe, Bukidnon, Philippines, on December 17, 1978. He began his boxing career in 1995, at the age of 16. He won his first world title, the WBC flyweight title, in 1998. He went on to win world titles in seven other weight divisions, including the WBO featherweight title, the WBC super featherweight title, the Ring magazine lightweight title, the WBC welterweight title, the WBO welterweight title, the WBC super welterweight title, and the WBA welterweight title.
Pacquiao retired from boxing in 2016, but he returned to the ring in 2019. He defeated Keith Thurman in July 2019 to win the WBA welterweight title. Pacquiao is considered one of the greatest boxers of all time. He has been named Fighter of the Year three times by The Ring magazine, and he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2021.
