Muhammad Ali is the only boxer to win the World Heavyweight Championship three times. He first won the title in 1964 by defeating Sonny Liston, and successfully defended it nine times before losing it to Joe Frazier in 1971. He regained the title in 1974 by defeating George Foreman, and successfully defended it once before losing it to Leon Spinks in 1978. He won the title for the third and final time in 1978 by defeating Spinks in a rematch.
