How to Hit a Golf Ball High

Hitting a golf ball high allows you to carry it over obstacles and land it on the green. To do this, you need to create backspin on the ball. Here's how:

  1. Use a lofted club. The higher the loft of the club, the more backspin you will create. For high shots, use a club with a loft of 7-iron or higher.
  2. Position the ball forward in your stance. Move the ball forward to the inside of your left heel for right-handed golfers (vice versa for left-handed golfers). This will help you hit the ball on the upswing, creating backspin.
  3. Sweep the club up and through. As you swing, keep the club low to the ground. At impact, sweep the club up and through the ball, brushing the top of it.
  4. Finish high. After impact, continue swinging the club up and through. This will help you create a high, arching shot.

To further improve your ability to hit the ball high, try these additional tips:

  • Use a tee to elevate the ball.
  • Focus on hitting the ball first, then the ground.
  • Practice regularly to develop a consistent swing.
  1. Why do I hit my golf ball low? You are not creating enough backspin.
  2. How do I hit a high chip shot? Use a lofted wedge and hit the ball with a descending blow.
  3. How do I hit a high flop shot? Use a wedge with a lot of loft and hit the ball with a steep, descending blow.
  4. How do I hit a high draw? Hit the ball with an outside-in swing path and open the clubface.
  5. How do I hit a high fade? Hit the ball with an inside-out swing path and close the clubface.
