Who was the first Indian hockey captain?

The first Indian hockey captain was Dhyan Chand, who led the Indian hockey team to three consecutive Olympic gold medals in 1928, 1932, and 1936. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest hockey players of all time.

Dhyan Chand was born in Allahabad, India, in 1905. He started playing hockey at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks. He made his debut for the Indian hockey team in 1926 and was named captain in 1928.

Under Chand's leadership, the Indian hockey team dominated the international scene. They won the Olympic gold medal in 1928, 1932, and 1936, and also won the gold medal at the 1938 Asian Games. Chand was known for his exceptional stickwork, speed, and agility. He was also a prolific scorer, scoring over 1,000 goals in his career.

Chand retired from international hockey in 1948. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan, one of India's highest civilian honors, in 1956. He died in 1979 at the age of 74.
