How Long is Extra Time in Field Hockey?
Extra time in field hockey, also known as sudden death or golden goal, is played if a match is tied at the end of regulation time. The purpose of extra time is to determine a winner without having to go to a penalty shootout.
The duration of extra time is 15 minutes, divided into two halves of 7.5 minutes each. The first team to score a goal during extra time wins the match. If neither team scores during extra time, the match goes to a penalty shootout.
